Pressed by Adnan Buyung Nasution, SBY was afraid to disband Ahmadiyah

Adnan Buyung Nasution's latest book reveals a number of facts, including Buyung's effort to 'pressure' SBY so as not to disband Ahmadiyah. If only Buyung SBY is submissive, how can he deal with his political opponents more than Buyung?

Book controversy "Advice for SBY"written by Adnan Buyung Nasution keep rolling. The book containing Buyung's experience when he was a member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) was considered to have leaked state secrets.
President SBY and people in the circle of his power elite were made red ears. Understandably, the contents of this book can be said to have finished skinning SBY's performance as a president who is considered often ignoring input from the Wantimpres. As the person who feels the most senior, Buyung is so firm in expressing things related to his relationship with SBY while being a Wantimpres.

However, there are things that are quite interesting to dismantle and need to be known by Muslims. When Muslims in Indonesia are so intense and busy taking action in various regions of Indonesia by demanding that the government dissolve Islamic faith groups such as Ahmadiyya, Buyung secretly, who was a member of the Advisory Council, lobbied specifically to pressure SBY not to dissolve Ahmadiyah . In fact, at that time the relevant ministries and law enforcement officials, even President SBY was in a position ready to make a policy to dissolve the Ahmadiyya. Moreover, Ahmadiyya often violates agreements made by the government and Muslims.

In his book, the aging activist who always wanted to be called "brother" admitted that he was the one who asked the president not to issue a policy to disband Ahmadiyah. Buyung once sent a letter personally to SBY so that the 3 Ministerial Decree was not issued. Some time after the letter was sent, SBY summoned Buyung to talk in private about the Ahmadiyya issue. "We must not succumb to the pressure of Islamic hardliners. The state must not be afraid, the state must not lose," Buyung told SBY. The words of Buyung's last sentence were used by SBY when addressing the June 1 2008 Monas incident, where the Muslim masses clashed with the masses of the National Alliance and Freedom of Religion and Belief (AKKBB).

However, the demonstration demanding the dissolution of the Ahmadiyya never subsided and grew even bigger. The Islamic Community Forum (FUI) was even able to mobilize an extraordinary mass in front of the state palace. In various regions, Muslims also moved to hold mass demonstrations. Support not only came from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), but the agencies of the relevant ministries and law enforcement officials also began to consider the input of Muslims to disband Ahmadiyah. Moreover, in various agreements with the government and Muslims, Ahmadiyya is often broken.

In the midst of an increasingly large Muslim mass movement, Buyung very arrogantly told the mass media, "If there are hard-line Islamic groups, whether they are FPI, HTI, FUI who have been bragging threatening to invade the palace, they will occupy the palace. defending the government. Don't try to play violent battles. Even for the constitution, it's okay for me. "

The attitude of insisting Buyung in defending Ahmadiyah was carried out in ways that violated the rules as a Wantimpres. Buyung, for example, accepted the Ahmadiyya delegation openly and made a letter of recommendation to President SBY so as not to disband Ahmadiyah. Even though from several members of the Wantimpres, only four people agreed that the president would not dissolve Ahmadiyah, namely Buyung Nasution, Subur Budhisantoso, Prof. Emil Salim, and Dr. Syahrir.
Other members of the Wantimpres, such as KH Ma'ruf Amien, flatly rejected Buyung et al's wishes. KH Ma'ruf Amien even had an argument with Buyung, who then came up with inappropriate words from Buyung - who always claimed to be democratic - against the clerics who were also MUI figures.

After the recommendation that SBY not dissolve the Ahmadiyya sent by Buyung et al, they waited anxiously. They are worried, SBY will be affected by the Islamic mass action which is increasingly growing. "In order to wait for the president's response, I call Hatta Rajasa twice a day," Buyung said. Imagine, every other day, Buyung continued to 'pressure' SBY by calling Hatta Rajasa so that the president immediately made a decision not to dissolve Ahmadiyah.
After waiting anxiously, while attending a wedding reception for an official's child in Bandung, Buyung met with SBY. Through Hatta Rajasa, SBY asked Buyung to come to his desk and speak privately. There was a conversation between Buyung and SBY as told in his book:

"Bang Buyung, I have learned the contents of my brother's letter and I have already thought about this Ahmadiyya case. You are right, we must not succumb to the pressure of hard-line Islam. Because, once we surrender, succumb to them, later they will demand further, furthermore, this country has been controlled by Islamic fundamentalists, "said SBY as Buyung told.
"I'm very happy, thank you," said Buyung.

"But there are conditions, Bang," said SBY.
"I asked Bang Buyung to speak directly to the three ministers, the Minister of Home Affairs, the Minister of Religion, and the Attorney General," said SBY.
From the dialogue it appears that the typical SBY does not want to risk itself, safety player, thus asking Buyung Nasution to explain to his assistants in the cabinet so they would not agree with the wishes of Muslims to dissolve the Ahmadiyya. In other words, SBY did not dare to deal directly with the big currents that demanded the dissolution of Ahmadiyah, including a large current which also occurred in his cabinet.

After the meeting in Bandung, Hatta Rajasa actually arranged a meeting between Buyung, Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Religion, and Attorney General. In the meeting that took place at the Hatta Rajasa office, Buyung explained the reasons why he did not agree if Ahmadiyah was dissolved. "I explained the problem. They listened to my opinion. There was a small debate, but no one insisted. The Attorney General (Hendarman Supandji, net) even agree with me. While Minister of Home Affairs Mardiyanto discussed a lot. Apparently they have heard President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono justify my opinion, "Buyung's story as written in his book.

The issue of Ahmadiyya became increasingly heated, resulting in clashes in Monas on June 1, 2008. This incident resulted in the Chairperson of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) Habib Muhammad Rizieq Syihab and Commander of the Islamic Army Command Munarman languishing in a prison cell. Unexpectedly, even though the FPI figures went to prison, the mass action demanded the dissolution of the Ahmadiyya instead of receding, but instead grew larger.
On June 9, 2008, the wave of mass action filled the state palace. They even planned to stay until the president completely dissolved the Ahmadiyya. Finally, on that day, despite not issuing a Presidential Decree on the dissolution of Ahmadiyah, the government issued 3 Ministerial Decrees concerning Ahmadiyah. This decision was referred to by the Chairperson of the FPI as a "effeminate" decision, because he did not dare to disband the Ahmadiyya who had clearly blasphemed the teachings of Islam and violated many agreements.

Although the government has issued 3 Ministerial Decrees, but for Buyung his struggle to influence SBY so as not to disband Ahmadiyah has been successful. He felt proud to have influenced SBY so he would not disband Ahmadiyah. "The 3 Ministerial Decree has at least demonstrated my success in preventing the dissolution of Ahmadiyah," Buyung said proudly.
This story reveals a fact that is truly ironic, namely only because of the pressure of a very secular and liberal Buyung Nasution, President SBY did not dare to disband Ahmadiyah. If you face a Buyung alone, SBY can bow to his knees, how about facing more political opponents than Buyung?

It is also common knowledge, SBY was afraid to dissolve the Ahmadiyya because of pressure from European countries, including those of American congressmen. Pathetic!

A lesson for the people and this nation when choosing leaders. It should be a lesson, and experience when choosing a leader, is something that is very valuable in order not to repeat the lifting of a true leader who is not in favor of the people. In the future, hopefully this nation and nation will change, return to the Way of Haq, so choose and make leaders from among the believers, uphold the Right One and eradicate the wrong one!
