The 6.1 SR earthquake occurred in Sukabumi, West Java

Around 18:11:11 WIB (June 4, 2012) occurred earthquake di Sukabumi which can be felt by some residents in Jakarta and Bandung. According to the ASEAN Earthquake Information Center (AEIC), the quake occurred at a depth of 24 KM towards 121 KM southwest of Sukabumi district, West Java, Indonesia.
While according to the data reportedUnited States Geological Survey(USGS), the earthquake occurred at 5.9 SR at 18.18 WIB. The epicenter of the earthquake was in the waters of a depth of 67.2 km, about 33 km southwest of Cibungur, West Java.

For information, on the same date 12 years ago, precisely on June 4, 2000, an earthquake once rocked Indonesia which resulted in at least 103 deaths and around 2,174 injuries.

The earthquake that occurred in Bengkulu and Enggano area reached 7.9 SR and it felt like it was in Johor Baru, Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, reports USGS earthquake monitoring site.

Hopefully the earthquake that happened today (Monday, 04/06/2012) in Sukabumi did not cause damage and casualties.
