Gramedia Publisher Main Library together with the Indonesian Ulema Council destroyed 216 books "5 Most Influential Cities in the World". The book protested by one of his sentences insulting the Prophet Muhammad was burned in the backyard of the Bentara Budaya building, Palmerah, West Jakarta, Wednesday, June 13, 2012.

The Chairperson of the Fatwa MUI commission, Ustadz Ma'ruf Amin, said that since the emergence of public reports regarding blasphemy in the book, he immediately gave three demands to the publisher of Gramedia Main Library. The first requested that the book be withdrawn, both apologies to the public and the third book annihilation.
"We hope that with this quick positive response, there will be no more noise," Ustadz Ma'ruf Amin said after the book was destroyed.

Gramedia President Director Main Library, Wandi S Brata, explained that the translation edition of the book began circulating in the second week of March 2012 with a total of 3,000 copies. Until the beginning of June 2012, 489 copies have been sold.
In addition to Jakarta, the destruction has been carried out in Cakung, West Java, Semarang, Central Java, Surabaya, East Java, and Pekanbaru.
"We translate what we are, it should be as sensitive as it should be. Our editor at that time reported to management. But it was not done, so it escaped us, this case is truly pure negligence," said Wandi.

Wandi admitted that when he received news of a protest about the contents of the book, he immediately checked and ordered him to withdraw from circulation.
"That day, there was no Gramedia bookstore. But if it was outside, it was out of our control. At present the number of books that have been withdrawn and destroyed is still being investigated," he explained. Regarding the Islamic organizations report to the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Wandi admitted that he would still follow the procedure in accordance with applicable law.
