Hamas: National Reconciliation must be in accordance with the Cairo Agreement




Palestinian Islamic Muqawama Movement (Hamas) stated that the process of national reconciliation must be in accordance with the agreement in Cairo.

Palestine Today reported that Fawzi Barhoum, a Hamas spokesman, said the process of national reconciliation would be carried out in accordance with the agreement signed between Hamas and Fatah in Cairo, the capital of Egypt, and all documents related to it must be evaluated under the second supervision the movement.

He added, the task of the national unity government was summarized into three main points, where the first point of this agreement was the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip due to the war launched by the Zionist regime of Israel in 2008 and 2009.

Furthermore, the Hamas spokesman stressed, the second point of the task of the national unity government was the implementation of the agreement and creating the right space to realize all the recommendations of the freedom committee, and the third point, Barhoum continued, was to prepare for the election of Authority leaders Ramallah and the Palestinian legislature.

Previously, Ismail Haniyeh, Prime Minister of the Palestinian Elected Government also stressed Hamas's commitment to national reconciliation.

Haniyeh said, the Palestinian people respect national reconciliation based on their principles and objectives, not based on security coordination with Israel.

Khaled Meshal, Chair of the Hamas Political Bureau and Mahmoud Abbas, Chair of Authority Ramallah signed an agreement to form a national unity government in which Abbas was his prime minister on February 6, 2012 in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
