Mosques in London Investigated Ahead of the Olympics

When the UK prepares late towards the end London Olympics, a government agency dealing with charity issues has launched an investigation into allegations that one of the large mosques in London has been taken over by certain groups considered radical.

"I am sad because my beloved mosque, where I have been leading prayers for more than 25 years, is being investigated officially by the Charity Commission because of its connection with the issue of extremism," said Dr. Usama Hasan, a prominent religious leader and one of the mosque priests in the Leyton region. London to The Independent as reported by onislam.net, Friday June 8.

"I have opposed extremism and tried to defend the mosque against it for years."
Masjid-al-Tauhid in Leyton overlooking the Olympic Park, has been the center of fierce disputes between rival groups for more than a year. This concern culminated following the resignation of Dr. Hasan after a lecture on the issue of Darwinism. And now the British government Charity Commission is investigating the relation between the activities of the mosque.
"We cannot comment further on the case until our investigation is complete," the investigator's spokesman said.

Sad to the problem that struck his mosque, Imam Hasan said he hoped the investigation would prove a peaceful and balanced picture of Islam.
