Pancasila, The Glorious Word of Wisdom

June 1, 2012 is the 67th anniversary of the birth of the Pancasila. Pancasila as the basis of the state was initiated by Soekarno taken from the value of social relations of the homeland.

In the New Order regime, Pancasila was socialized with an indoctrinative approach, while the cultural life of Indonesian society was increasingly far from the values of Pancasila.
"After the New Order stepped down, there was a reluctance of people with Pancasila, even the Ministry of Education has still negated Pancasila education," Yudi Latif said at the Pancasila birthday discussion at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) Thursday (31/5).

According to the author of the Plenary State book, Pancasila is a regulator of public morals, as a moral code of state, a public moral principle. He also argued that it was not religion that dictated the moral system of society, but unfortunately state administrators did not yet have an imagination about Pancasila and public morals.

On the same occasion the secretary of the PDIP faction Achmad Basarah said that Pancasila was only a political frasemology far from constitutional practice. According to him, there are different understandings of the interpretation and version of Pancasila.

"There are also those who think that Pancasila is only a row of words in sila, they translate Pancasila according to their own taste," he explained.

Whereas David Yusuf expressed his concern over the increasingly distant practice of the state from the state foundation. "Pancasila exists only in rhetoric, not in social life," he said.

He gave an example of an international standard school, which requires schools to make English as their language of instruction. "This is clearly a violation, because the language of the country is Indonesian, not English. In the past we studied German, Dutch, English, but not compulsory languages at school," he concluded.
