PM Hamas: Israel wants situation in disturbed area

The Palestinian Prime Minister (Hamas) assessed the increasing Zionist regime's attack on the Gaza Strip as an attempt to disrupt the balance in Palestine and the Arab world especially after Egypt's transformation.

Ismail Haniyeh at a press conference on Monday (18/6) congratulated the people of Egypt for the victory of Muhammad Mursi in the country's presidential election and said, "The Egyptians have clearly demonstrated their civilization and identity." Al-Alam television quoted the Palestinian Information Center on Tuesday as reported.

Haniyeh also mentioned that his government was always following developments in Egypt, especially regarding the official election results in the country and hoped the election would revive Egypt's leadership role among Arabs.

In addition, PM Hamas also hopes that Egypt will return to play a role in supporting Arabs and Islam, especially the Palestinian issue.
