Golkar Politicians Become Al-Quran Procurement Corruption Suspects

Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) increased cases of alleged corruption in the procurement of the Koran in the Ministry of Religion to the level of investigation.

At the same time, the KPK appointed members of the House of Representatives Commission VIII Zulkarnaen Djabar as suspects.

"ZD has been issued by the sprindik (warrant for the commencement of investigation), declared a suspect," said KPK Deputy Chairman Bambang Widjojanto (Thursday night, 28/6).

Previously reported, the KPK traced two incidents of corruption in the Al-Quran procurement project for the 2011-2012 fiscal year. First, the alleged bribery transaction related to the discussion of the Al Quran procurement budget worth Rp. 35 billion. Second, allegations of corruption in the process of procuring the Koran.

In addition to members of the House of Representatives Commission VIII, Zulkarnaen is also a member of the DPR RI Budget Agency. The KPK ensnared the Golkar Party politician with bribery. He was alleged to have received a reward or prize when discussing the Al Quran procurement budget.
