Putin arrived in the West Bank

President of Russia Vladimir Putin arrived in the West Bank in its safari to the occupied Palestinian territories.

Putin arrived in Bethlehem on Tuesday (26/6), and is scheduled to meet with Mahmoud Abbas, leader of the Ramallah Authority.

When he arrived there, the Russian President immediately visited the Church of the Nativity.

Putin's visit to the West Bank came after he met Prime Minister of Israel's Zionist Regime Benjamin Netanyahu in East al-Quds (Jerusalem) on Monday.
Direct negotiations between Israeli and Palestinian officials have been postponed since the end of September 2010.

Russia along with other members of the group called the Middle East Quartet, including the United States, the European Union and the United Nations, have tried to encourage Israelis and Palestinians to continue negotiations.

Meanwhile, the Palestinians stressed that it would not resume new talks unless Tel Aviv stopped building illegal settlements on occupied Palestinian land.
