Ulema condemns Al-Quran procurement corruption

JOMBANG, -A number of scholars in East Java (East Java) condemned the alleged corruption of the procurement of the Holy Qur'an in the Ministry of Religion.
The scholars claimed to be very angry and disappointed if the alleged corruption of the Koran was really happening.
Renowned cleric from East Java KH Anwar Iskandar urged the Ministry of Religion to immediately explain to the public about the alleged corruption case.
"We urge the Ministry of Religion to openly explain the results of its investigation to the public," urged the former PKNU DPP Syuro Council after gathering with scholars at Tambak Beras Islamic Boarding School, Jombang, East Java, Saturday (06/23/2012).
It also requested that the case be investigated thoroughly.
As previously known, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) sniffed at the alleged corruption of the Qur'an procurement project in the Ministry of Religion, in the 2010-2011 budget year.
The project is expected to occur under the management of the Directorate General of Islamic Education, Ministry of Religion (Kemenag), which was then headed by Nazaruddin Umar.
At present, the KPK itself is just starting to collect information material, including information from relevant parties. However, there are no Kemenag officials who have been summoned regarding the alleged corruption.
