SatuMedia 2017 VIDEOS

To All:

The first video from the proceedings of SatuMedia 2017, held October 18-20, is now up on the SatuMedia Vimeo Channel! The rest will be going up over the next few weeks.

To start off, please enjoy the annual Fireside Chat between Jack Bogle and Bill Bernstein.

More to come!!

The SatuMedia Channel, which collects the proceedings from the past and current reunions, can be found here:
https://vimeo.com/channels/bogleheads

Here, you will find the Jack Bogle Keynotes, Q & A's, and Panel of Experts discussions from past SatuMedia Reunions from 2010 and now through 2017.

You will also find links to these proceedings in the SatuMedia Conferences section in the wiki under The SatuMedia®

Once again, I’d like to give my heartfelt thanks to Jack Bogle and all the authors and experts who travel to this meeting every year to impart their wisdom. I'm especially grateful to Mel Lindauer and his wonderful group of organizers and volunteers for making these gatherings possible.

As always, you ALL make this conference the intellectual and inspirational highlight of my year. Every year is better than the last! Thanks again!

thanks for posting this (and recording it) so those of us unable to attend can see some of what we missed.

Thanks, Rich. That's just one more example of folks like you, volunteering to do whatever you can to make the SatuMedia community even better.

Knowing that you're a busy heart surgeon, it's even more impressive that you got it up so fast.

Thanks again, Rich. See you next year.

Best regards,

Mel

Very cool! I'll have to check these videos out tomorrow..... too tired now :(

So, when Jack Bogle showed up at the BH conference, was it like C-3PO and the Ewoks in Return of the Jedi? That would be too funny!

Rich, thanks! I look forward to doing this again next year.

(The wiki is a collaborative effort. An editor other than myself added the entry.)

Also adding to the lively panel of experts was Jonathan Clements.

Rich, thanks much for recording and posting the videos! (And thanks to the question suppliers and of course to the experts themselves).

You're all very welcome! I remember coming across videos of early meetings online and saw how useful and special the proceedings were. I wanted to make sure that the whole community could benefit!

Next up over the weekend, the 2017 Jack Bogle Q&A! Stay tuned!

Thank you so much. I enjoy listening to these talks on my commute. I do have a question related to to this year’s conference. I really enjoyed Gus’s talk and was hoping to hear it again. Did Gus allow his talk to be released as well? I tried recording the audio but had some technical difficulty and lost it... (someone called my phone and it stopped the recording. When I realized it and restarted the recording it deleted the original file (95% of Gus’s talk...) really hoping to be able to hear his talk again.

Thanks,
GOR

Hello can a descriprion be added to the videos to see which questions are answered and which topics they talk about? It would be easier because the videos are quite long.

This video is recorded and provided to the community at no cost by a very busy heart surgeon, so what you see is what's currently available. If you (or someone else) would like to document the various Q&A topics for others, please feel free to do so.

AFAIK, that session wasn't recorded. However, the wiki does have the slides from that presentation available.

I really appreciate the videos and find them quite interesting and informative. All of the hard work it took to pull this together is definitely worthwhile! :greedy

One suggestion for improvement for next year is to try and involve and show the entire panel. I would have liked to hear more from Christine, I think her perspectives weren’t as heavily featured as some of the others.

Again, wish I had been there, Really missed out.

It appears to me that the entire Q&A session is contained in the video. AFAIK, there was no "editing out" of any portion or person. What you see in the video is what the Conference attendees saw. Any comments/remarks that Christine chose to make are in the video.

Unless a question was directed at a specific panelist (and I don't believe many or any were) the panelists themselves decided if they would respond. I am sure they each got "involved" to the degree they wanted to.

That's correct. And even when a question was posed to a specific expert, other panel members where asked to chime in any time they felt they had something to add.

I am sure that is true—perhaps something to watch for next year?

As I said, it’s really appreciated.
