Innovis and ChexSystems freeze confirmation letters

Post by buckeye7983 » Thu Sep 21, 2017 10:07 am

For those of you that recently implemented freezes on-line at Innovis and CheckSystems, how long did it take for you to receive confirmation letters with PINs in the mail?

Thanks!

Completed 2 freezes online with Innovis on 9/8. No USPS confirmation as of today.

Just did ChexSystems on 9/18, and told to expect mail from them in 3 business days. I'm not holding my breath on that one either.

I would also like to know. We haven't received ours yet (completed online 9/14 and 9/15).

I don't recall seeing the message about mailing us the confirmation from Chex. Only rec'd confirm online when it was done 2 weeks ago.

Our online freeze confirmation online did NOT include a PIN. That was promised to come in the letter, yet to be received.

I put on the freeze with Chex Systems on Saturday 9/9 and printed the on-screen confirmation. Letter should have been mailed within 3 business days, or by Wednesday 9/13. Nothing received as of Wednesday 9/20. And neilpilot's comment is correct; they gave me a "Reference ID for this request" online but the PIN is supposed to be in the letter.

Chex requested 9-8. Letters received 9-19. Nothing from Innovis yet, requested same day.

I requested an Innovis Credit report and Freeze on the same day (9/8). I got a credit report from Innovis within a few days. On the front of the credit report is a username and password that they assigned to me. Its not clear to me if this is also the "PIN" to unfreeze or if they are sending a separate mailing (which I have yet to receive) for the freeze.

I requested the Innovis freeze at the same time and their letter with the PIN arrived today...so 12 days. Nothing from Chex Systems yet though.

Ironically, I haven't opened a new account in several years, but right after I put these two new freezes on (in addition to the pre-existing ones with the three big companies) Alliant C.U. announced that they were dumping their HSAs and forced me to shop elsewhere. The two candidates who have responded so far, HSA Authority and Elements Financial, told me the Chex Systems freeze is the only one I have to lift to open the account.

12 days for both for me (though I called Chexsystems 5 days after, and they expedited it for me - still took 7 days after that)

I froze my and my wife's credit at Innovis and Chex Systems on Saturday 9/9 online and on 9/19 we received our PINs by U.S. Mail from Innovis. Still waiting for Chex Systems.

Update: Our Chex Systems PINs arrived today, 9/23, by U.S. Mail.

I froze Innovis, but I didn't request a credit report. Was there anything in the Innovis report that was not in the big 3, or vice versa?

Chex seems to have a different type of information (check-related maybe), Innovis is the same kind of stuff but there is a possibility that someone subverted one agency and not the other so I'd think it's wise to check all of them.

Innovis seems to mirrors the big 3 in information. I chose to request it because I didn't have a free annual big3 available (and since the breach wasn't announced for over a month it allowed me to check a report for free). What's nice now is knowing about it - if you like to space getting your reports you can get one every 3 months (one from each of 4) instead of every 4 months. Chex systems was much different - I only saw inquiries from a couple of banks I opened accounts with an a weird statement about when my SSN number digits where first available (and it had a year that was over a decade after I'd been born so seemed wrong anyway).
Downside of Innovis (and chex) is they didn't have an online view / PDF download option - had to receive paper (I hate having to take/store paper and my mail isn't always reliable - I get my neighbors mail sometimes and sometimes they get mine- we are usually good about redelivery to each other but now I'm concerned my unfreeze pin may have been misdelievered).

I thought reports all had differences depending on which financial institution uses which CRA. If so, how is checking Innovis help you detect fraud at financial institution that uses Equifax? You may not see it until a year after you checked the Equifax one, right?

Inquiries will only go to one CRA but any loan or CC that gets opened will be reported to all so if someone does get credit in your name it should show up on any one you check.

I received my confirmation from Innovis (nothing yet from Chex). I didn't keep track of when I requested it, so I don't know how long it took.

I thought their mailing was slightly confusing. The first page or two confirms my credit freeze and gives me a PIN. But at the end of the mailing is a form that you can use for, among other things, requesting a credit freeze. I saw that last page first as I opened my mail and thought they were demanding a paper confirmation of the information I filled out online, but after reading the first page it looks like they have everything they need. Including that form, with that wording, was confusing but was probably them just ticking all the boxes.

Placed freeze on Innovis 9/8 (x2), and neither PIN has been received as of today. ChexSystem was done much later (9/18), and also no PIN yet.

Edit: USPS Informed Delivery shows 2 envelops that I think are from Innovis, so I expect that PINS from my 9/8 request will arrive today.

I applied for a credit freeze with Innovis. Today I called and they said it was sent out on 19Sep. It has not been received. Over the phone I asked for my free credit report. Innovis said I would receive it in 3-5 days. We will see.

I fell beneath the cracks with Equifax. I called this morning early and was on hold for 40+ minutes. With 140 million leaks I expect it will be awhile before I can get through.

Did a freeze with all five agencies on Sept 15 for self and spouse. Received letters from Innovis for both of us yesterday confirming freeze was done. Letters included 10-digit PIN.

Ours were on the same schedule as yours.

Our ChexSystems letters both arrived on Thursday. They took 27 days, from 9/15 to 10/12.

Our Innovis we requested 9/14 and received them the beginning of last week, so 2 1/2 weeks.

We actually got credit reports from both Innovis and ChexSystems first (by mail) to see what they contained. It was pretty light. We then froze them both on line, which happened immediately, but the PINS to unfreeze them was to be sent by US mail.

Those didn't reach us yet as it hasn't been much over a week.

Just wondering if people are receiving confirmation letters from ChexSystems. I did the on line freeze on 9/29. Called today and they said they sent the conf letter on Oct 7 to my correct address. Never received it as of Oct 24. Now I need to send them a letter with all my private info to get a new conf letter and PIN. Thanks

I placed a freeze with ChexSystems on 9/18, and finally received a PIN in the mail last week. It took about 1 month. Their letter was dated 10/7, and was delivered on or around 10/18. My DW's ChexSystems freeze was done online on 9/24, and she is still waiting for her PIN. If it was me, I'd wait at least a couple more weeks before sending them the documents they requested.

BTW I'm still waiting for a letter from Equifax with my PIN. My freeze was placed on or about 9/8, but due to their online issues I did not receive a confirmation and/or PIN online. On 9/26, Equifax Customer Service (sic) told me to expect my PIN via USPS mail in 5-10 business days. It's now 20 business days, but I don't plan to contact them again for a few weeks since it's obvious that when they say 5-10 business days they really have no idea how long it will take.

Froze both 2 days ago. I spoke with the CSR at Innovis. She said it would take 7 to 10 days for confirmation letter with the PIN.

Other than the Equifax, Experian Transition, Chexsystems and Innovis, any other freeze I need to do?

Placed freezes for both my husband and myself. After 2 weeks got one letter for me with PIN from Innovis. Called and requested new PIN for him. Called ChexSystems and let them know no letters were received, asked them to reissue PINs. :annoyed

I wasn't going to give SageStream another thought after the other 5, but since it was left included in the Wiki, maybe it isn't past the point of diminishing returns.
It's a shame their website isn't set up to freeze online, like Chexsystems and Innovis.

Requested freezes on Chexsystems for me and wife on 9/13 and 9/17 respectively. Got confirmation letters with PIN on 9/23 and 10/5.
Also requested freezes on Innovis; I think it took about a week to get confirmation letters from them.

Just got my Innovis PIN in the mail this morning. It took just under 2 weeks, and it is the last one I am receiving. Got PINs from the "Big Three" starting a week ago, with all accounted for now.
There are infinite numbers between two and three, but none of them is 4.
